friday nite we enjoyed  sunset celebration

at the vanderbilt beach resort

old florida - orchids hanging under palms

dinner by torchlight

the turtle club, delicious



saturday we hit the

NAPLES BEACH CLUB

more old florida - casual  style

no matter where you look

something to cool the eyes

loved this unusual palm

with huge pom seed pods

underneath a sleeping baby in a swaying hammock

saturday afternoon we moved back to

vanderbilt beach

and sat ourselves right in the midst of

a huge party of 20 somethings

loud music, LOTS of drinking

commraderie, friendship

oh, and nearly sunk this boat

so drunk and happy

sunday was ten hours of heaven

gulf waters perfect, dolphins jumping
sand dollars the size of my hand
 grillling under the shade of giant sea grapes

stayed until  sunset

monday we ate good meals

i had a key west bag & bake

shared pino gris bought in alsace region of france

and watched another
beautiful sunset!!!

take your mama to the beach day

each beach day is unique

sunday the volusia beaches were

crowded

overcast

rough seas

and the danger flag was flying

due to dangerous marine life

portuguese man-of-wars

yea, the most lethal of all jellies

all over the beach 

 and these cute

blue buttons or drifters

which are harmless

floating happily in the surf

ian and his mama above

by early afternoon the beach was empty

we walked on the dunes boardwalk

there ian told me it was the

BEST

day of his life

that he wanted to build a home on the dunes

so he could watch for gopher turtles

and see the sea

we spent all day making discoveries

we often go to the beach

in the late afternoons

the beach is quiet

 ian likes to run and be silly

after a long one at school

 the boys fish

and we make all kinds of discoveries together

 just chillin on the beach is nice too

ian loves to stop by the old fort remains

across from the marina on the intercoastal

then we stop for some pier fishing
